Craig Roberts

President

Craig began a career in lighting design after attending the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin and Parsons School of Design in New York. He first worked as a lighting designer in New York, then relocated to Dallas in 1976 and established his own firm. Over the last 40 years, Craig Roberts Associates has earned a reputation for integrating transformational lighting into exceptionally designed luxury hospitality, retail and residential projects. “Our approach has always been to integrate lighting into architecture and design rather than making lighting the focus.”

Stephanie King

Principal, Senior Lighting Designer

Stephanie was an art major at Louisiana State University when she fell in love with lighting while working in a lighting showroom. “I loved what lighting could do for a space, bringing drama and beauty to an ordinary room,” Stephanie says. In 1986 she joined Craig Roberts Associates and has spent the last 30 years designing and managing residential and commercial projects around the world. “Instead of making art, I light it,” she says.

Robert Mapes

Principal, Senior Lighting Designer

Robert Mapes received a BA from the University of Virginia and pursued a Master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. While studying architecture, he developed an interest in lighting design and began working in the industry in 1985. He joined Craig Roberts Associates in 1990 and designs and manages both domestic and international projects. “From the beginning I have believed that lighting is vital to how people feel about their environment,” Robert says. “I love enhancing architecture and creating visual interest with light and shadow so people feel comfortable and engaged with their surroundings.”
